After months of dedication and resilience following a heart-wrenching loss in the Indoor Ontario Cup Final, KO Football Academy’s U13 Boys have achieved redemption by capturing the 2024 MilkUP Ontario Cup title. In a thrilling final held at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre in Vaughan, KO|FA secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over First Touch FC Jaguars Oakville, marking a historic achievement for our academy and a testament to the boys' strength and perseverance.
The match started with First Touch FC dominating possession. Emerson Myszkowski and Jacobo Montero led the charge, testing KO’s goalkeeper, Nicolas Calcagno, with numerous early attempts. Despite relentless pressure and being outshot 10-0 in the first half, Calcagno's brilliant reflexes and KO’s steadfast defense held First Touch scoreless, sending the teams into halftime tied 0-0.
KO emerged with renewed energy in the second half, with Luke Martins creating KO’s first significant chance in the 53rd minute. The breakthrough came in the 65th minute when a KO corner kick led to a scramble in the box; after an initial block by First Touch’s Wyatt Spehar, Malik Kiamos-Khan seized the rebound and netted the game’s only goal. First Touch FC mounted a determined response in the final minutes, but Calcagno continued his outstanding performance, ensuring a clean sheet and securing KO’s Ontario Cup title.
This victory symbolizes the dedication, growth, and resilience of the U13 Boys. They not only brought home a historic win but also demonstrated the power of persistence and teamwork. This Ontario Cup triumph is a milestone for KO|Football Academy, inspiring young players in our community and reinforcing our commitment to developing players both on and off the field.
